ALTERNATIVE PROVISION IN DEVON & SOMERSET

Empowering 9-16 year olds who are not currently in education or are at risk of exclusion

changing the world one mind at a time - by Delivering a unique blend of therapy, coaching and creative approaches to build a nurturing environment for all types of learners.

OUR CORE VALUES

Freedom of expression

During their time at RTW, all of our learners have opportunities to develop their own interests and express their true selves in a safe and nurturing environment.

Individuality

We encourage our young people to develop a sense of self, and aid them in finding the right path for them. Often, our learners have experienced isolation by society for being who they really are, at RTW, we nurture their individual strengths, talents and interests.

Resilience

Resilience is a cornerstone of our provision. Our learners have often faced huge hurdles in their lives, so we work with them to develop resilience and tools to help them keep going when things get tough.

Empathy & empowerment

We treat all learners with empathy, compassion and kindness and empower them to overcome their challenges, by teaching them about their brains, developing techniques for anxiety management and other regulation tools.

3 step intervention process

1

Understanding the past to move forward

We start by creating a safe space for learners to reflect on their journey so far. Through guided conversations, coaching, and therapeutic support, they begin to recognise patterns, barriers, and the impact of their experiences. This step is about awareness—not blame—and lays the groundwork for real change.

2

Changing mindsets and building new tools

With greater awareness comes the opportunity to grow. In this phase, we focus on helping learners reframe limiting beliefs, develop emotional resilience, and explore more constructive ways of thinking and responding. Through targeted interventions, mentoring, and skills-based sessions, young people begin to shift how they see themselves and their future.

shift it

3

Taking control and building a future that fits

With new insight and confidence, learners begin to set goals, re-engage with education, and plan for what’s next. Whether that means returning to mainstream school, transitioning into the workplace, or pursuing a new pathway. This final step is all about ownership, aspiration, and moving forward with the skills they have gained.
